Dental Implant in the Posterior Region

Case ID: 3293

Individual results may vary.

Case Details

A missing tooth for a prolonged period of time has lead to the deterioration of bone volume at the site resulting in an hourglass appearance at the crest of the ridge. Therefore, a ridge splitting procedure (RSP) with expansion is performed to increase the width of the ridge to accommodate the desired dental implant size in addition to increasing the overall longevity and success of the implant.

Description: A RSP with bone expansion within the localized and confined area at the single tooth site has improved the facial (front-side) contour of the boney ridge. The procedure has not only provided adequate foundation for an ideal sized dental implant at this particular location but has also eliminated the concavity and "caved-in" appearance along with restoring the natural outline of the ridge.
