Case Details
The width of the alveolar ridge is insufficient for an ideal dental implant placement of size 5.0 x 10 mm at this particular location in the mouth and as a result will require bone augmentation in order to restore the ridge with this choice of implants. The proper positioning of the implants are extremely crucial in order to minimize the damaging lateral loads (horizontal sheer force vectors) delivered from the angled loads to the dental implants which will contribute to marginal crestal bone loss over time. Bone is harvested from the lower jaw and attached and fixated to the alveolar ridge and allowed to heal. After a specified amount of healing time has passed the area is placed with dental implants with restorations.
