Case Details
This patient wishes to restore the lower right quadrant with prosthetic teeth but lacks the adequate amount of bone width on the alveolar ridge to support regular sized dental implants provided that the required amount of circumferential bone is still maintained. For this patient, a ridge splitting expansion procedure (RSEP) is performed. A precise cut is made in the bone of the alveolar ridge and is then carefully expanded. Next, 4 endosteal titanium dental implants of regular sizes are then placed. The area is then sutured and allowed to heal. When adequate healing has occurred, the dental implants are uncovered and restored with a prosthetic implant-supported bridge.

Description: After the desired amount of healing time has occurred, all of the dental implants are exposed and implant healing abutments are connected to them to establish a proper soft tissue architecture or soft tissue emergence profile. This will better prepare the gum tissue for the final oral prosthesis.

Description: Implant abutments are created which will be connected to the dental implants in the mouth. They will provide the intermediate support needed for the final oral prosthesis.
